Johor polls: PBM to contest at least two seats, confirms party chief
JOHOR BARU: Parti Bangsa Malaysia is expected to contest at least two seats in the coming Johor state election.
PBM president Larry Sng Wei Shien, however, said that the final numbers and constituencies would be announced before nomination day on Feb 26.
He, however, hinted that candidates would be someone with experience of servicing the people, and the seat will be in the outskirts of the city here.
"We have identified our candidates and the seats we will be contesting in.
"We are in the final phase of discussions and making sure our machinery and candidates are prepared.
"I can confirm that we will be going for two seats, but any increase in numbers will be announced later," he said during a press conference after the launch of the PBM election machinery at the Cathay Hall in Taman Ekoflora here on Friday (Feb 18).
When asked if PBM would collaborate with other political parties, Sng said that the party is currently going solo, but welcomed any party who wants to work with them.
Sng also said PBM was currently part of the "Malaysian Family" government and supported the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
"We are part of the government and that is PBM's current position," he said.
